Erica and Michael Face the Elements with a Smile

On June 19, Erica Frayser and Michael Wells said their "I do's" at a friend's farm in Manakin Sabot, Virginia. As the horse and carriage transported Erica and her father to the ceremony site, the heavens opened causing havoc to anything that wasn't tied down including the tent surrounding the portoloos and the bride's veil. However, in spite of the effects of this mini cyclone, the lovely bride, Erica, smiled and laughed embracing the gail force wind and torrential rain. The only thing missing was the wicked witch! The officiant rushed through the wedding sermon as fast as he could form the words and the ceremonial mixing of the sands was a disaster. When so many brides would have run for cover in tears, Erica thought it was hysterically funny. She is a bride to remember. What a trooper!

Heather and Drew at the Mill at Fine Creek

As a big fan of red hair, I loved the engagement shoot with Heather and Drew. The grounds and the creek at the Mill www.themillatfinecreek.com complemented Heather's lovely coloring (Drew wasn't bad either). All three of us waded in the creek, which was freezing I might add, in order to capture the creek's beauty.

An Officer and a Gentleman

I had the pleasure of photographing Kelli Ziemer and Aaron Borgmeyer's wedding on April 17. My associate, Caron Sterling, and I toured around town on one of Richmond's staples, the green trolley. We visited Brown's Island, the James River and the Capitol building. The ceremony was held at Second Presbyterian Church followed by a reception at the Colony Club.

Anything But Ordinary

In my mother's house, there are boxes full of photographs that contain memories of the past. Images from my childhood, the beloved pets that shared our lives, our grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends. A fragment here, a moment there, as a collection they represent the times of my life. However, with all these images, there is not by itself that completely documents any one event in my life such that I can remember every detail. There have been many times that I've wished for a complete story instead of just an image or two. My portrait sessions are designed to capture an event or a moment in the life of your family! During our session, you should choose a location and an activity that represents your day to day life--yes, that means no posing in matching outfits on the beach or in front of the Christmas tree. Anything But Ordinary is my motto of choice. I would rather see a game of soft ball, your daughter's first ballet lesson, your puppy's first birthday party. Your family at home relaxing with the latest member of the family albeit human or four-legged, not bedazzled and frozen by a set of studio lights against a white backdrop--a segment of our precious lives that we can remember. Engagement and maternity sessions also fall under this category. Even if I am not available to photograph your wedding, you can still share in one of my portrait experiences! Portrait sessions usually last about 1.5 hours, but can be less or more depending on what you are doing. All portrait sessions are posted online for ordering prints and also include your own copyright-free disc containing all high-resolution images. Sessions begin at $350. For more information, please send me an email and tell me more about the kind of shoot you are interested in! info@amandaanthonyphoto.com

For the Love of Line Dancing....

Jessi Suttenfield and Chris Duke exchanged wedding vows on January 9 at First Presbyterian Church www.fpcrichmond.org with a reception at Westwood Club www.westwoodclub.net. Jessi showed off her love and talent for line dancing. She was amazing dancing along to the Electric Slide, the Cupid Shuffle and several other line dancing songs. Music was played by Manny Green www.mannygreen.com. There was also some break dancing thrown into the mix by one of Jessi's bridesmaids and a guest.

The Day our World Turned White

December 19, 2009 is a an evening to be remembered. Not only since Dana Bonelli and Chris Johnson exchanged wedding vows at St. Giles Presbyterian Church http://www.stgiles.org/ but also because we were under a major winter storm warning. However, the snow did not dampen the couples evening but added to it making the nuptials more festive than ever.

Following an intimate ceremony, the couple and their guests then made their expedition downtown to the elegant Lemaire Restaurant http://www.lemairerestaurant.com/ at the Jefferson Hotel. Where they were invited to warm up with fresh cranberry laden cocktails before going into the "Library" for dinner.

Elegance and Ease

My associate photographer, Caron Sterling and I were fortunate to be part of two splendid weddings on November 7, 2009.

Caroline and Ned were married in the evening at First Baptist Church http://www.fbcrichmond.org/ with the reception following at Willow Oaks Country Club http://www.willowoakscc.org/. It was an evening that combined Caroline's natural elegance with Ned's casual ease. We really felt our photographs captured so many special moments. The reception was a grand affair with family and friends, and plenty of dancing!

All Smiles

Our second wedding on November 7, 2009.

Meghan Baillargeon married Travis Ely at St. Bridget's Catholic Church http://www.saintbridgetchurch.org/ with the reception held at Richmond Country Club http://www.richmondcountryclubinc.com/

I have known Meghan for years - we met long before either of us were in the wedding industry and I have gotten a chance to know Travis better as he occasionally provides assistant photography services for me.

I don't think I have ever seen both the bride and groom so obviously happy. Their smiles were so infectious.

It was a beautiful day filled with lots of personal touches thanks to the elegance and flair of Jennifer McBride from Occasions www.occasionsevents.com . Details ran the gamut from the traditional wedding cake topper that once sat on a grandparents wedding cake, to the modern reference to the couples favorite show Lost in the cookie favors for guests. Also there was a rather impressive Darth Vader grooms cake, another favorite of the couple, supplied by Cakes by Graham http://www.cakesbygraham.homestead.com/. Music was supplied by JB Bostic with Choice Entertainment http://www.choiceentertainment.com/ and the magnificent floral arrangements by the Jefferson Hotel http://www.jeffersonhotel.com/. This happy day filled with smiles and laughter was captured by Stephanie Strimple from United Wedding Productions www.unitedwedding.com.
